We arrived at Seabrook for a family vacation at our friend’s cottage during the first week of October and were welcomed on our first evening with a beautiful sunset view that we enjoyed while dining on the patio at Koko’s Restaurant. The next morning, we walked to the beach and saw the clam show in the sand revealed at low tide as colorful kites flew overhead. As afternoon approached it was time for me to return to Coyote Cottage to prepare for a Zoom talk as the author of a children’s book about kites.
While Halloween decorations can be seen all around Seabrook this month I decorated Coyote Cottage with kites for my author’s reading of “The Kite That Touched the Sky.” Zooming with Kites at Seabrook enabled me to get a week of relaxation away from the big city and stay in touch online for book events happening in other parts of the state and around the world. We posted photos on our website https://kumquatkids.com and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/105215640836504/posts/644487880242608
Seabrook is a great place to relax and to work online or attend conferences and meetings via Google Chat, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom and similar conferencing apps. During the past year and a half I have been presenting talks and activities such as Children’s Storytime readings and Virtual Author Visits to libraries, schools, and community educational organizations from my home base or remote locations. Seabrook became the home for my Zoom talk to the Words&Pictures Festival 2021 sponsored by the Fort Vancouver Regional Library.
