The boyfriend’s birthday

Being in the middle of a pandemic leaves a hard task to surprise one’s significant other. While we live right outside of Seattle and have spent the last 8 months sharing 700 sq. ft. while working 10 hrs a day, a breath of fresh ocean air sounded like nirvana. Friday eve we made our way through the dark ocean mist and were able to set our phones on do-not-disturb for the first time in what felt like eternity. 9:00 am I jumped out of bed to grab coffee and brunch supplies at the Front Street Market – might I say they have a wonderful local selection (to include wine and Bloody Mary fixins’)! While cooking brunch there was a knock on the door and I was able to surprise my boyfriend with one of his best friends (from the Marines) and his wife. The look on his face was really priceless and that kicked off a wonderful weekend to hide our phones and computers, play board games with cocktails around the fireplace, enjoy the best enchiladas I have ever had from Koko’s, and end the evening with a relaxing dip in the hot tub. Waking up to the roar of the ocean and no rain, we had beautiful walks around the neighborhood, on the beach at high and low tide, and really felt we took in a deep breath of refreshment. With only a 2.5 hour drive from home, we will surely be back in the summertime to make more everlasting memories.
